Tsukuba Maruni Hotel

It's a small hotel in a residential neighborhood, with parking right outside. The building is old and has old-fashioned locks, but that was fine. My room was spacious, about the size of a twin, and had a separate toilet and bathroom. The water pressure and temperature were enough, and there was a washlet.

There are restaurants within walking distance, and although the hotel doesn't serve meals, finding breakfast or dinner wasn't a big problem. Tsukuba Station is a little far away, but we came by car and could park for free on the grounds. It's a small hotel, so there wasn't much walking inside. The building and some facilities are showing their age, but the place didn't seem dirty. The rooms felt roomy and comfortable, probably because tourist twin rooms had been turned into business singles. Amenities were fairly complete, and there was a bidet toilet and separate bathroom. Service has a few small shortcomings, but with prices in Tsukuba going up, it's doing well for a low-cost stay. We should support it.

I booked at the last minute for a hike up Mount Tsukuba. The building's old, but my room was clean, at least to me, and they provide novelty items. It's perfectly fine as a business hotel. It seems privately run, since the front desk isn't staffed all the time, but they were able to accommodate my early checkout.

The manager was quiet and seemed kind. The building is old and not especially clean, but for the price and location I'm satisfied. The refrigerator was small and had no freezer compartment.
