Tsukuba No Yu Urban Hotel

The staff were consistently friendly, efficient, and responsive. The room was well equipped and comfortable, and the two main highlights were the onsen, with its long opening hours, and breakfast, with fresh choices each day.

For a visit to KEK, this is the best hotel. There's a good choice of nearby restaurants and a few shops for late-night food. The breakfast mixes Japanese and what they call Western-style dishes, and the staff are friendly and helpful. They offer free shuttles from Tsukuba bus station if you call or email ahead. The hotel may need some refurbishment, but the bath area was really nice. With the fairly low price, it's hard to beat.

I slept comfortably and peacefully. The guest room was clean, the bed was great, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. I'd stay again without hesitation.

This is a good choice if you're working at KEK-PF and the dormitory is full. It's a 15 minute bike ride away, and you can call to request their shuttle bus to KEK, which runs in the morning and evening. They pick you up, simple as that. My room was large, clean, and comfortable. I was alone but only a double room with two twin beds was available, so it felt extra spacious. The staff were great, spoke Japanese and English, and were very accommodating. The hallway smelled of cigarettes, but my non-smoking room didn't. Breakfast was a letdown. There weren't many options and it wasn't especially delicious. Everything else was so good that I expected a better breakfast too. Also, while it's close to KEK-PF, it's quite far from everything else.
