Kuhe Ryokan

The vegetarian meal was available when requested, and it was carefully put together and really tasty. There’s a choice of public and private onsens, and the ryokan itself is beautiful. Take a little time to look at the paintings and decorations. For what you get, it’s great value.

Spending a night here was so comfortable, and the ryokan has left one of my strongest memories of omotenashi and delicious local Yamagata ingredients. I especially loved the service, Japanese-style room, shared bath, private onsen, dinner, and breakfast. I feel a special affection for this place and have no regrets about staying.

I booked through Trip.com and got a message saying there weren't any places to eat nearby, so we'd need to drive somewhere for food. They didn't say whether dinner was available as an extra or offer any other options. I tried asking about dinner through Trip.com, but for some reason the message wouldn't send. I also got no response at the email address on their website, so I had no choice but to cancel. A shame, because the place looked good.

Dinner and breakfast were both satisfying, with seasonal local ingredients carefully prepared and attention to detail in every dish. The meals really added to the trip. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the facilities felt worth more than the price, so the value was excellent. The inn was spotless and peaceful, and I felt at ease as soon as I arrived. The staff were warm and polite, too. I'd happily recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing stay.
