OYO Business Hotel Shinkawa Ube

The room was nice.

I was very pleased with the food, especially the tasty rice and the gently seasoned simmered dish. My Japanese-style breakfast included a different grilled fish and simmered dish each day, plus seasoned seaweed, furikake, a raw egg, miso soup, pickles, and kamaboko. I hadn’t expected much from a business hotel, so it was a lovely surprise to have such a delicious meal. I had a room with breakfast included during my three-night stay. It was a shame the restaurant was closed for the long weekend, so I couldn’t have dinner. Thank you for your hospitality.

I called to book on the day because I was in the area for my Evangelion activities, and Ube-Shinkawa Station was close by. Bringing children was fine, and there was no extra charge for a weekend stay, so it was great value. I stayed without meals and ate in the nearby entertainment district. The staff were very helpful, and the hotel was close to the station and easy on the wallet.

This feels more like a celebration of director Hideaki Anno than just Evangelion. You really feel alive here. The beer from the vending machine is great too.
