Tourist MINOWA

A peaceful spot, with great food and a very nice host.

The food was delicious, from the rice and vegetables to the side dishes and desserts. It's a comfortable place to stay, with Wi-Fi throughout the building. The guest room area has books and a fridge beside it, so you can settle on the sofa and unwind. It's quiet and feels far from civilization. I'd recommend an early morning walk by the river. Thanks for the hospitality.

Dinner and breakfast were both generous portions and seasoned just right, really delicious. The ryokan is tucked in the mountains, less than a 30-minute drive from downtown Ueda. I travel a lot for work and was tired of business hotels, so I tried a ryokan for a change. The building's old, but it's well kept and clean, with the kind of charm that brought back memories of student training camps. I'll definitely stay again.

We had to skip the trout dish because it had been substituted for some reason, but the rice was so good that I asked the owner about it. He said he grows it himself. We were supposed to have breakfast at 7:30, but needed to leave earlier. They kindly moved it to 6:30, so we still got to enjoy a delicious Japanese breakfast with rice. The new Japanese-style room smelled lovely, with the scent of tatami and wood. I'll visit again if I get the chance.
