The room was lovely, the tea was good, and I really enjoyed the sauna. There are temples nearby too. This was my first ryokan stay, and it left a great impression. The location loses a point because it’s a fair way from Besshoonsen Station, though the free shuttle means you don’t need to walk there. I especially appreciated the Japanese woman who spoke English so well, patiently explained each course, and drove us. It was easy to talk with her. A Nepalese man also looked after us very well. I’m sorry I didn’t catch either of their names. I’d happily come back for the hospitality.

We spent three nights here and visited lots of old temples and shrines. The staff were friendly and the service was great. Mr Kano San kindly explained the dishes in English. The hotel is fairly remote, so I’d suggest driving instead of relying on public transport. Most places to eat close around 3-5pm.

A handy base for Besshoonsen, with a shuttle to the station and a bathroom in the room. The staff were really friendly, breakfast was great, and the outdoor Onsen has a nice view.

The meals came to our room right on time, and they tasted good too. Everyone was extremely friendly, and the rooms were nicely decorated. The bath was so relaxing and comfortable. I had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.

The town is small, but there’s enough to do for two days. I loved my time here. The staff were so friendly, and they even made a special vegan meal plan for me. The onsen was fabulous, with both indoor and outdoor areas, and they picked me up and dropped me off at the train station. I stayed here June 25.
