Fukutokuya

The food portions were huge, and I was nearly bursting by the end. I stayed here while touring Kyushu by motorcycle. The parking area is small, so two large bikes might be a problem if spaces are limited. I’d mention the bikes when booking. There’s a supermarket and coin laundry nearby, which is handy for riders on a long trip. The private baths are available 24 hours, so I could enjoy the hot spring at my own pace and plan around it without watching the clock.

Dinner was the surprise: it was tasty, and the portions were so huge that we couldn’t finish it all. The baths were clean and had plenty to enjoy, and my wife was very happy with the inn. We stayed on the middle day of a three-day weekend and thought the price was great for what we got. Our room seemed like one that hadn’t been renovated, but it was spacious and comfortable. We could hear a little traffic, though it died down at night and wasn’t a problem. If we’re back in the area, we’d like to stay another night.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was great. Our accommodation was cozy and spacious. There are seven private hot springs; if one is free, just let the staff know and you can use it. I was especially grateful that they accommodated the strict breakfast requirements I’d mentioned ahead of time.

Steam rose from gutters all around, and there was a free foot bath along the sea. A 7-Eleven was close by, too. The room-only rate was just under 30,000 yen, and it came with a hot spring bath fed directly from the source. Being able to use it whenever we wanted was great. I’d like to return. If you like sweets, famous cake buffet Okamoto is less than a five-minute walk away.
