Guest House Ikoi

The owner's family were very kind, and the place is reasonably priced with the option to cook for yourself. It's about an hour by car from both Naha Airport and Nakijin Village. The only small downside is that there's no bathtub. I stayed at Minshuku Chinen for four nights in April, and I'll be back this October (2019)!

There was no one at the desk when I arrived, and ringing the bell didn't bring anyone out. I called, and an older man came from outside the entrance. He explained things, said he was heading back upstairs, then went outside again. He mentioned that when there are lots of guests, they'll leave them at "Minshuku Chinen," so that may be the parent establishment. I'd read that the place was hard to locate, but searching "Minshuku Chinen" got me there fairly easily. For the price, I think it's worth it.

The host was so kind and helpful, and thanks to him I got to join a Blue Grotto dive tour and make wonderful memories. At Minshuku Ikoi, I had everything I needed to cook, do laundry, or relax on the cozy sofa with a beer and chat with the friendliest host I've met. The bus stop and highway are easy to reach, and there's a convenience store and supermarket nearby. I stayed for a week in May and felt so at home in Uruma that I nearly forgot it was time to leave. I'll be back after a short flight! I stayed at Minshuku Ikoi for a week in May, and it really did feel like home. Everything was provided, and I was grateful for the owner's consistently polite, kind service. Looking forward to seeing you again.

The little room is comfortable, and having free use of the washing machine and utensils is great. You can also use the water heater and tea bags in the living room. Sound carries through the walls, which is a shame. Parking is in a small open area nearby.
