Hotel New Usuki

The sashimi and tempura set meal with Ryukyu yellowtail was delicious and really filling. My grandson was happy and completely satisfied 🍴full😆.

I ate at Shimo-Oshoya and had one of their set meals. The fish was fresh, the serving was generous, and the price was affordable. Really tasty, and I highly recommend it.

The receptionist and manager were nice, but the old facilities made the hotel seem a bit expensive. The unit bath was probably the smallest kind, and the water temperature kept fluctuating. I also heard all rooms became non-smoking this year, leaving the only smoking spot outside near the entrance. It’s cold there, and I feel for non-smokers too, so if every room is non-smoking, I wish there were a proper smoking area. I cut my planned stay short and told them two days ahead, but was still charged a cancellation fee. I’m surprised, since I’ve never known a hotel to charge one even for a cancellation the day before.

The bathroom seemed a little dated, but the bed was unbelievably soft, like lying on a cloud. My mother and I both slept really well. Of all the hotels we stayed at during our five days in Japan, this was our favorite. We were grateful they prepared a special vegetarian meal for us.
