Futagojimasou

The building is quite old, but it didn’t bother me much because the onsen was great, and the traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast were lovely. It was a clean place with friendly people, and I had an amazing time there.

The reception cat, “Gaa-chan,” works very hard and was a character. My fifth-floor room also had a very good view.

We had a very comfortable night, and the views from both the room and the public bath were stunning. The building is old, but the staff were courteous and friendly. We were there for my elderly mother's birthday, and they arranged transport to and from Wakayama Station. They also put us on the same floor as the public bath, which made things easier for my mother, who has trouble walking. There are still five steps at the bath entrance, so it isn’t fully barrier-free. There was a wide choice at both meals, including freshly cooked, piping hot tempura and chawanmushi. The swordfish tempura was especially delicious.

The price was reasonable, and we were very satisfied. The food was delicious, and even Ga-chan, the mascot cat, would wake from a nap and come over to greet us when he noticed us. He even let us hold him. It’s a retro hot spring inn right above Bansho Garden, with amazing views. The building is old, though the rooms have been renovated and are very clean. Everyone on staff was friendly, helpful, and pleasant.
