Unite Zao Jonida Resort

From the cafe and guest rooms you get lovely views of the forest and mountains, and the property itself feels modern and thoughtfully designed. The guest rooms and outdoor patios are especially nice, and it felt relaxing as soon as we walked in. The hotel is about a five-minute drive up the mountain from Zao Onsen Village, with the village and the ropeways and outdoor onsens both easy to reach on foot or by car. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. Hayashi san, Jun san and Komeshi san all helped me with what I needed. I'd happily return, and would recommend spending time here, either for an afternoon in the cafe or a few days in the guest rooms.

Breakfast was especially comfortable, with the restaurant looking straight out onto the snow. My room was spacious and had a distinctive feel, and the front desk staff were incredibly helpful. Their English was excellent.

Breakfast was delicious, especially the croissants and fruit juices, and they provide tickets for nearby hot springs that are easy to visit. The high ceilings made the place feel relaxing. I could hear the people in the next room talking through what seemed like thin walls. I walked from the terminal, and the slopes and stairs were somewhat steep.

The soundproofing was the one disappointing part. Otherwise, the room I had was very modern and the lobby had an artistic feel. I’m especially grateful to the female staff member who drove me to the bus station. I needed to return my ski equipment on the way, and she kindly came along with me. Thank you so much!
