Our second-floor room faced Mount Fuji, but the weather was cloudy, so we couldn't see it. There was only one employee, a very kind and humble Grandma, serving my wife and me, and we were the only guests. I'm not sure she could manage more than two rooms or guests. The room and Ofuro were very clean and warm, and the food was delicious. The extra 1100 Yen electricity charge was the downside. She couldn't speak English, so have Google Translate ready, ideally with audio, which makes communication easier.

Grandma was very kind and willing to communicate with us even though she couldn't understand English. Bring Google Translate. The toilet is outside the room but very clean. The bathroom is ofuro style, with a shower to wash before getting into the hot bath. You can use it from 6.30pm-10pm. There is an extra 1,100 yen charge for electricity or something, but I was okay with it. I found the place a bit creepy at night, though I'm easily scared by things. Everything else was fine, and I'd definitely come back if I visit Yamanakako again. I'm not sure why some people left bad reviews.
