Kasuitei Oya

The location is perfect, with Lawson just a one-minute walk away for anything you need. Staff were accommodating and spoke English very well. We had a room with a private bath and a great view of Lake Kawaguchiko. Dinner came to the room, while breakfast was in the banquet hall, and both meals were filling and delicious. There was even an amazing fireworks show that night. Definitely recommend!

The food has been the best I've had so far, with breakfast and dinner served as what felt like endless courses. From the private onsen on the 7th floor, the views of the lake and mountains are stunning, and there's a beautiful view over the lake too. The hotel is really nice. It's a bit old and the decor is dated, but it suits Japanese style and culture perfectly. I'll definitely come back.

The room had beautiful views, which made our stay even more special. Kasuitei Ooya's staff were warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The highlight was the kaiseki meal. Many ryokans won't accommodate allergies, but they went out of their way for my partner's celiac disease, making separate dishes and providing gluten-free soy sauce for the sashimi. It was easily the best gluten-free food we had in Tokyo.

We had a very positive stay. The location was convenient, not a crazy walk from the bus station, and the free shuttle was handy with luggage. Every interaction with staff was friendly, polite, and helpful. The dinners and breakfasts included with our stay were delicious. We hadn't expected the meal served first to be just the beginning, so it was fun to get a multiple-course dinner brought to our room. There was plenty for us, and breakfast in the banquet room was a nice experience too. The housekeeping staff found the tiny piece that had fallen off my husband's CPAP machine and brought it down while we were checking out. I had left an important souvenir on the bus ride to Kawaguchiko and couldn't figure out how to get it back myself. Someone at the front desk coordinated its return, which I couldn't have managed because of the language barrier. I'm so grateful, since it was special and I couldn't have replaced it during the trip.
