The front desk ladies were cheerful, attentive, and spoke decent English. There are four restaurants in the hotel, apparently the best selection in the area. I tried three, and all served excellent meals. It's a very basic place, but it covers what you need, with a large onsen and dry rooms for gear. The closest run is only about 60 meters away, so it's nearly ski-in, ski-out. My only small gripes were needing three futon cushions to make the bed comfortable, and wishing there were a fridge in the room. I understand that isn't Japan-style, though. I found that water bottles got very cold between the double-pane windows without freezing.

Came for shabu shabu. Dinner was good, though a bit pricey. It was decent and a nice change from eating at our hotel, but nothing especially memorable. The restaurant service was great. Book ahead, as they often fill up.

Very old and in serious need of refurbishment. It covers the basic needs of people who want to ski. Most of the staff don't speak English.

The place was okay and very close to the diamond ski area. I booked a room with a bath to avoid sharing the communal one, and you have to specify that when booking. The first night's food was great, when we were one of only four guests in the hotel. Once the weekend brought more guests, breakfast and dinner were a pretty mediocre buffet. The room heater wasn't warm enough, so we had to ask for a kerosene stove. You can't leave it on while sleeping or you'd suffocate. I'd look for somewhere else next time.

For 12,000 JPY per person for one night with dinner and breakfast, the value is great. The ski-in, ski-out location is prime, the tatami rooms are huge and comfortable, the onsen is clean, and there are several restaurants in the hotel. Skip the mediocre buffet and try their Nepalese restaurant instead. I've stayed here twice and counting.
