Iwasuge Hotel

Kind, helpful staff made us feel at home, and the meals were generous and nicely served. Breakfast and dinner were spectacular, with lots of variety. The room was clean and spacious, with comfortable beds and clean sheets. For a ski stay at Shiga Kogen, 10/10. It's a great location beside a bus stop and two gondolas, with easy access to the main ski areas. Definitely recommend it.

The public bath, or furo, was lovely, with a beautiful view and water that wasn't too hot. A great soak after skiing. Our room was spacious, with two futons, and the food was fantastic. After many stays at different ski hotels, this was the first time we'd had dishes this delicious. Breakfast is Japanese style, though coffee is available. For skiing, the location is great, just one minute from the gondola. Getting there from Nagano does mean changing buses at Yamanoeki. Highly recommended!

We stayed for a week and were very happy with the experience. The meals were generous in both variety and quantity, and delicious. We especially liked the sukiyaki, pot pie, and apple gratin. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was much bigger than we'd expected. The mountain views were amazing. There are two gondolas close to the hotel, and it's a short walk to the bus stop for getting around the rest of shiga kogen. We'd definitely return.

We got stranded at bus stops several times when buses weren't running, and the staff came to pick us up in their own van. They were super friendly and helpful. They didn't speak much English, but Google Translate made communication easy. Breakfast and dinner portions were massive. There weren't any ski rentals when we visited, but they sold lift passes, and we rented our gear at a nearby shop.
