Lodge Yama No Manimani

We had such a lovely stay at Lodge Yama No Manimani, just steps from Okushiga Kogen ski resort and the rental shop. It feels personal, and every detail in the quaint lodge seems carefully thought out. The ambience added a lot to our stay. The owner and his wife cooked the meals, and dinner was among the best we had in Japan. Breakfast was great too, with both Western and traditional Japanese options. Onsen time slots can be reserved for up to three people, which gives you privacy. There are comfortable common areas, snacks and drinks for sale, and a kitchen guests can use. Local buses run at certain times, and taxis are available from Yudanaka station. The host is only a quick message away and was very accommodating and ready to answer questions.

We really didn't want to leave Yama-No-Manimani, and we'll definitely come back. Masa and Maki made the quiet, beautiful setting at Shiga Kogen feel like home and had thought of all the small comforts. After skiing, there's a handy room for your gear at the entrance and a cosy spot to sit and take off your boots before heading down to one of two private Onsens. Maki cooks delicious breakfasts and dinners, served in a bright dining room. Upstairs, the lounge, kitchen, and dining space are fully equipped and include a Nespresso coffee machine. Downstairs there's a fully equipped laundry and drying room. Our cosy bedroom was a lovely refuge after a big day on the slopes, with floor heating and layers of doonas and blankets for a good night's sleep. Thanks, Masa and Maki!

There's usually music playing, and my friend and I had a great time. Yama-No-Manimani is a cosy, charming lodge just a short walk from Okushiga Kogen Ski Resort, with a thoughtful, homely feel. The breakfasts and dinners were fresh and delicious. Our room and the bathing area were clean, nicely decorated, and smelled lovely. Thanks for your hospitality, Masa & Maki!

Masa and his family run an immaculate lodge, with care put into every part of the place. The breakfasts and dinners were excellent, among the best food we've had in Japan. The Okushiga Kogen lifts are within walking distance. I'd gladly come back.
