The day-use price at Tsukimigaoka Town Community Center was reasonable. There’s no outdoor bath, but the indoor one has glass walls, and from its hilltop position you get a magnificent view of Yanagizu town. There’s a lounge area and a restaurant, and it seems locals come here too. Out front, a big Akabeko (red cow) statue felt very fitting for Yanagizu.

For a local hot spring at a community center, 400 yen is a very reasonable entry fee. The water comes straight from the source, and it wasn’t too hot for me. A staff member at the Route Inn Aizuwakamatsu restaurant had told me that, and they were right. I thought it was wonderful!! 🙏
I happened to be passing through while the Ushitora Festival, held once every 12 years, seemed to be on. The promenade lights looked beautiful and made for a really pleasant visit. Next time I’d like to come specifically to enjoy the hot springs.
I slept in my car at the roadside rest area, then went to a nearby hot spring. From the bath there was a lovely wide view of the Tadami River and a beautiful bridge, all lit up. It was so relaxing.
It’s a modest-sized hot spring, and large vehicles can’t get in, but the price is fair and it feels like a place locals come to unwind. The water leaves you warm after bathing, and I stayed that way until I got home. Especially lovely in winter.
