Daiwa Roynet Hotel Yokohama - Koen

We found it handy to have Lawson's right downstairs for a quick, inexpensive bite, and the hotel was close to Chinatown, the stadium, and the train station. Our room was clean and roomy, and we appreciated the complimentary toiletries and bath soaks in the lobby. The staff were kind and helped us with questions about luggage transfers. We had a very pleasant stay.

The rest of the hotel was nice, but the internet was frustratingly slow. I ended up tethering from my phone about half the time. It seems like most Daiwa Roynets might have this issue, though I’m not sure. For a business hotel, that’s a dealbreaker for me.

The room was comfortable and had enough space for luggage, and breakfast was fine, though nothing fancy. The coffee was the one standout. Service felt limited, and basics like toothbrushes are at the counter, so if you forget one, you have to make another trip down.

I liked the large bed and comfortable linens, and the location worked well for Chinatown and Yokohama Park. There’s a mini-mart just outside, free toiletries and other amenities in the lobby, and self-service laundry on floors 7 and 10. Checking out was easy, though checking in was unusually cumbersome. A few things disrupted sleep: the refrigerator starts switched off, and turning it on brings up a bright orange light. There are also bright LEDs on the smoke alarm and aircon control panel, and the curtains don’t block all the light. The aircon has to be turned on again each time you enter. The room had just one bottle of water, where most hotels provide two, and there’s no “Do Not Disturb” door indicator. I stayed two nights in Room 507.
