Far East Village Hotel Yokohama

A standard hotel in Japan, clean and compact. There are tea and coffee machines for guests on the first floor. Laundry is on floors 5 and 8: two washers cost ¥300, and two dryers cost ¥100 for 30 minutes. All good 👍

The hotel is in a peaceful area, a short walk from the local overground and underground stations, with convenience stores nearby. We found it easy to get around the hotel, and our room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and we had a good chat with the manager. The bathroom was great, with one of the best showers I’ve had, and there were good channels on the TV. The bed was very comfortable, though the pillows were quite hard, which seems standard in Japan. We were on the fourth floor, where the railway was noisy at first. We got used to it and stopped noticing after a while, and it made for some nice photos. I’d absolutely stay here again.

We spent two weeks here, and the staff were very helpful. The manager was a really nice guy: he pointed us to good parking when we rented a car, then gave us useful local bar tips on our last night. Our room had a view of the river and train line. The trains weren’t as loud as we expected. The hotel is just a few minutes on foot from both overground and underground stations, making central Tokyo easy to reach, while still feeling relaxing to return to after a long day. I’ll definitely stay here again next time I’m in Tokyo.

Breakfast had lots of good choices, from karaage chicken, miso soup, omelet, baked potatoes, fresh salad, milk, and cold water to a Singapore-style soup whose exact name I can’t remember. The service was good too. In the room, the bed was fluffy, the air conditioner was strong, and there was a bathtub.
