Hotel The Knot Yokohama

The front desk is on the first floor, and the place is super cute, but the room was smaller than a cruise ship cabin and had no AC. If you got hot, they told you to open the windows, even in the rain. The room only had heat. They also give you an actual key that you have to leave at the desk each time you go out. I wouldn't have wanted to stay if the Expedia ad had mentioned the lack of AC. Over 16 days and 5 stays, this was easily my least favorite experience. The room was clean and didn't feel dirty, but at $90 a night, Airbnb places and business hotels are much better.

The staff were genuinely helpful: they brought my luggage to my room and accepted my parcel deliveries. The streets nearby are lively, with lots of izakaya and a karaoke place, if that's your thing. But the station looks closer on the map than it really is. I booked a large double for a week in March 2025, and it wasn't worth what I paid. The hotel and its furniture are old, and the carpet smells that way too. In my room, the carpet had several large black and white stains, and the bathroom faucet was cracked. I chose reduced cleaning, but they still left me two sets of pajamas, towels, and slippers every day for all 7 days. By the end, I had a huge pile. I wouldn't go back.

The rooms are very small, even by Japanese standards, but there's a lot of character to this artsy little hotel. I've stayed at The Knot Yokohama four times. The bar is great, with a professional bartender who really knows his stuff, and the train station is just a few blocks away.

The room was big enough for the two of us, and the older gentlemen provided lovely service. We had a great time wandering through the little streets around the hotel, with shops and places to eat close by. The popular sightseeing spots aren't nearby, but they're a short train ride away.
