Intercontinental Yokohama Pier 8 by IHG

We spent most of our one-night stay in the lounge, since our harbor access room included lounge access. The view straight ahead was great, with the harbor and the Hammerhead crane. Drinks were ordered through the associates, and we had champagne, wine, and cocktails through the evening. The evening cocktail service included cold cuts, a warm lamb plate, and clam chowder, but there wasn’t a hot buffet. Breakfast came as a choice of American, Japanese, or Rise & Shine sets. We picked Rise & Shine, with grilled pork and beef hot dishes. There’s a bridge from the hotel that we walked all the way to World Porters. Hammerhead, where the hotel is located, also has plenty of bakery and confectionery shops.

Soma helped us settle in for afternoon tea, finding us a table by the window so we could enjoy the view with our tea dishes. Club InterContinental felt quite exclusive, with both hot and cold food. We also went up to the rooftop area for a great view over the bay. We wandered around the waterfront and enjoyed the activities, including the weekend markets and the red brick building. We stayed one night on 21 Nov 2025. InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8 is a modern, beautifully designed hotel right on Pier 8. It seems fairly new compared with InterContinental Grand Yokohama, which is a five-minute walk along the bay. Our room was beautifully designed and overlooked the bay, with a crane right in front. It was a great stay, and we’d love to come back soon.

I travel a lot and usually don’t write reviews, but the service here was so phenomenal that I wanted to. I’m an IHG Diamond member and had booked a Deluxe King. The staff took our luggage at the entrance, escorted us to reception, and upgraded us to a VIP suite. They brought our bags straight to the room. The room was immaculate, and the bathroom was very techy, with a shower that has a glass wall opening into the room. I’ve stayed at Conrads and JW Marriots and was still really impressed. For the value, especially if you have status, it’s a good place to spend a few days getting over jet lag before heading into the city.

The hotel cost a little more than we usually pay, but it was worth it. The location is great, close to shops, restaurants, an amusement park, and the cruise terminal. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the service and food were excellent.
