Oyado Tamayura

I loved being able to use the private hot spring in my room whenever I wanted. The staff were kind at every turn, and their hospitality really stood out. Dinner and breakfast were home-style Japanese meals, not too spicy and just right for my taste. I’m planning to return on my next visit to Yufuin.

Dinner and breakfast were quite good and nicely refined. The price is on the high side, but I found it acceptable. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and always smiling, and the room and surrounding area were very clean. There was no unpleasant smell in the room, the bed was comfortable, and even the wardrobe disinfectant had a fresh scent. In the morning, though, I found large cockroaches in the bathroom. I see that as an issue with the wider environment rather than this hotel specifically, so it doesn’t change my recommendation. Taxis are available for the trip from the station, which takes only five minutes, even though the hotel is a bit far away. I’d still recommend staying here if I get the chance to visit Yufuin again.

I’m sorry I left some food uneaten at dinner. The staff’s exceptional service made the biggest impression, and the private bath was very satisfying too. You can sense the owner’s thoughtfulness in all the little details. I visit hot spring resorts every month, and this is the best inn I’ve stayed at.

Tamayura gave me such happy memories. On the day we left, sparkling snow covered the scenery, and it made the whole stay feel even more special. The meals were delicious, and soaking in the warm, clean hot spring made my travel fatigue seem to melt away. The water felt wonderful, and afterward my skin was soft and smooth. The traditional ryokan was beautiful and clean, with thoughtful touches for guests throughout. I was grateful for the kindness of the owner and staff, and from arrival to departure I felt full of joy.
