The onsen is first come, first served. We tried one of the outdoor baths, soaked and chatted, and came out feeling warm and relaxed. We also stepped outside to look at the stars, which were beautiful. Breakfast the next morning was hearty, more than we could finish. The staff said there are only eight rooms, so book early if you’re coming during peak season because they fill quickly. I enjoyed the stay and would like to bring my family next time. Thank you! It’s a lovely ryokan, but tucked far enough in that I’d suggest arriving before sunset. We got turned around using Google Maps, and the direction sign was hard to see at night. We arrived after 7 pm, and the staff asked if we wanted dinner. We said yes, and the meal was scrumptious, with lots of good-quality dishes. Staff explained each one and checked before bringing the next. There was a heater near the table, so we weren’t cold. After dinner, a staff member showed us to our spacious room. Our luggage had already been brought in and the beds laid out. They explained how to use the onsen. There was also an indoor bath in the room for anyone who didn’t want to go to the outdoor ones.

Such a good place, and worth a visit again. The food was so, so good, especially the BBQ and chicken hot pot, and worth the price. Everyone made us feel welcome and was considerate, including the male driver and the restaurant waitress. They always set a higher chair for my mum, who’s in her 60s and walks with a stick.

When we left, our car was stuck in snow and ice, and all the staff were so helpful. I’ll definitely come back and recommend it to friends. We arrived around 7 pm to find dinner already prepared. The wagyu and appetizers were perfect. There’s an onsen in the room as well as four more private onsens that you can use without booking. Breakfast was ready when we went to the dining area, and it was just right too.

The staff were amazing, truly 11/10 hospitality, and the hot spring was great. It’s a nice place to slow down and enjoy the little details. The one downside is how far away it is, so you pretty much need to arrange a ride. That takes a few points off for the location, but otherwise it’s great.

The food and service were amazing, and I really liked the private onsens. The ryokan is tucked into a quiet, peaceful corner, a short drive from Yufuin. It’s easy enough to reach by car.
