You can really unwind here and shake off the fatigue of modern life, surrounded by the quiet feel of a small countryside. The owner is incredibly kind and polite, and the kaiseki is at its very best.

The separate building across from the main one has the private indoor and outdoor onsens. We tried the outdoor bath and found it relaxing, a great experience. Dinner and breakfast were both tasty, clearly made with care, and among the highlights of our stay at Ryokan Maruya. The building and rooms are older and a little dated, and some spots could use more maintenance. Still, the warm atmosphere, good food, and private onsen made our stay worthwhile and enjoyable.

Taking a rental car made it easy to get away from touristy Yufuin and enjoy the hot springs in a natural setting. The owner was cheerful and friendly, and the food was incredibly delicious. I highly recommend it. If you need the parking lot, enter this address to get to the Maruya parking area: 289-1 Yufuinchō Yunohira, Yufu, Oita 879-5112, Japan.

It was a quiet hot spring resort, about a 25-minute drive from Yufuin. We relaxed in the clean baths in private, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Thank you very much!
