The onsen views were amazing, and the staff were lovely. Our room was spacious and well kept, which made for a great stay. I'd recommend it if you can make it here.

This is a very old, traditional Japanese onsen hotel, and I wouldn't recommend it if you don't speak Japanese because the staff can hardly speak English. Also, be careful in the outdoor onsen in your room: there's a fishing boat in the pond, and the fisherman can see you naked. I saw the boat there every day from 8 to 10 in the morning.

The food was great, but the room and facilities felt very worn, and there was an odd smell. Privacy was a big concern in both the private bath and the outdoor bath, since boats kept passing quite close by while we were nude. It made us extremely uncomfortable, so I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Don't waste your gas coming here! The official website says day-use onsen access runs until 9 pm, but when I arrived today at 4:30, they refused to let me in and said it had closed at 2 pm. The staff were rude and gave no explanation.

The onsen was the best part, with a lovely view across the lake, and you can book a private bath too. My plan came with breakfast but no dinner. The buffet breakfast was delicious.
