The town itself was a lovely surprise for my first visit to Zushi. It’s small, but there are plenty of cafes, local shops, and restaurants, and the beach is only a few minutes away on foot for sunrise or sunset. Amigo House also has a welcoming community feel, which I really liked. I stayed four nights and found the whole place modern and clean, with thoughtful touches like a water filter and a kitchen stocked with the main cookware. The staff were warm and kind. I’ve stayed in quite a few hostels and coliving spaces, and Amigo House is definitely one of the best. I can’t wait to stay again.
The shared coworking setup gave the stay a local feel. People from the community use the space too, so there are chances to meet them in a way you don’t usually get at a guesthouse. One morning I came into the common area and found around ten people having a gardening meetup. That was pretty cool. I stayed three nights, and the staff were lovely and helpful. There was a coworking area in the common room, plus proper desks and chairs upstairs, which worked well for getting computer work done. The beach was close by too.
Amigo House really does feel like a friend has lent you their home. Zushi’s town centre has great food, and the station is about a 10-15 minute walk away. The beach is closer, around five minutes on foot. If you work remotely, it’s a great fit. The lounge was the calmest place I’ve ever worked, though it got lively with people working from home in the morning. I had to work at night.
The rooms are nicely decorated, and the staff were friendly. Instructions were clear too. I liked it.
Room #1 had plenty of space for us, with two full-size beds that were really comfortable. The location was handy for both the beach and the train station, and the hosts and staff were very accommodating. Toko was on morning duty. She speaks Japanese and Korean, and as a Korean American I was excited to find out she knew Korean. She was so friendly and ready to help. I also had an error with my booking, and Akira, the evening staff member, worked with me to sort it out. He even stayed up well past check-in time because my flight and arrival were late.
