Malibu Hotel

My reservation was canceled because they said the price was wrong.

The room was spotless and had a lovely view, and the Western breakfast at Malibu Farm was amazing. We stayed two nights in a dog-friendly room on the second floor. The staff were all kind, though nobody called my dog by name or spent time with him. We ordered whitebait pizza from the Italian restaurant AO through room service, and it arrived quickly. Thanks for that. I did miss having a full-length mirror, since the bathroom mirror only showed the top half of me. There was a fridge but no freezer, so I couldn't freeze my dog's ice packs. I also didn't have to worry about cleaning, so it would have been good to have something equivalent provided. The Japanese breakfast was an extra 1,100 yen, and I chose it after being told that was the price difference. I couldn't believe the rice and miso soup were instant. I'm sure the miso soup was from Nagatanien, but at a luxury hotel it felt strange, especially when the Western food was so good both days. I wish they hadn't recommended it. If it had cost the same, I could understand, but paying 1,100 yen extra felt like a rip-off. After checkout I went to Hasedera Temple and realized I'd left my ticket at the hotel. They helped me out a lot. Thank you so much.

The hotel doesn't have a loyalty program, so the price can feel high. We were apparently the only guests staying, which made the place feel a little lonely, but I'd still like to come back in summer. Getting to the beach takes some planning. Yuigahama Beach is a long walk, and you can't count on finding a taxi along the way unless you take one from Kamakura. The app wouldn't find one either. The room was new, clean, and problem-free, with a roomy changing area and lots of seats that worked well for families with kids. ASO was also top-notch. I was impressed by the Hayama beef and the chef's ambitious menu, and breakfast at Malibu Farm was delicious.

MALIBU HOTEL is part of the Riviera Zushi Marina resort complex, which has a yacht harbor, restaurants, indoor and outdoor event spaces, resort condos, and tennis courts. Every room is a suite of at least 50 square meters, so it's somewhere I'd like to stay one day.
