Balmoral Beach Hotel

The room looked out over Lake Victoria, and from the balcony I got to see hippos. It was still a beautiful view, even though flooding has covered the gardens the owner worked so hard to create with water hyacinth. I made great memories and plan to return. The hotel and staff were first class, and the owners and management took care of all my requests. The food was excellent and made for my dietary needs, and the price was very reasonable. The peaceful setting away from busy town was another plus. There was some room for improvement in the cleaning details, though. It wasn't easy to find the hotel because there are no signs pointing the way and Google Maps wasn't much help. Management are now working on getting signs put up, which should make it easier.

The lake view, decor, music, meals, and peaceful surroundings all made for a lovely visit, and the staff were professional and welcoming. I hope the water levels go down so the hyacinth can be cleared, and that the hotel finds a lasting way to deal with the rising water. I can only imagine how beautiful the view would be without it.

Winnie at reception went above and beyond for us. We had some extra needs, and she eagerly took care of everything we asked. The staff were lovely, the food was excellent, and the views over Lake Victoria are stunning without the noise of the city. Balmoral was a wonderful stay, and we hope to be back soon.

Getting there can be a real hassle because of the rough roads and poor Google Maps directions, and during our visit there was no hot shower in the morning. The customer care was very good, though, and it's a quiet, peaceful place close to the lake.
