One Bedroom at Marina Bay Square

The building itself had problems too: the elevators were dirty and smelled awful, and when we tried to see the pool and clubhouse advertised in the listing, both were locked. Each time we raised something, the representative said, “Anything outside of the apartment is not my responsibility.” This was the 2-Bedroom Marina Bay Square Apartment in Westlands, Nairobi. We had been told the owner would meet us, walk us through the property, answer our questions, and let us leave if we didn't like it. Instead, a young woman arrived who knew very little and couldn't answer basic questions. When we opened the curtains, there was a huge microwave transmission tower right outside the window, facing the apartment. It hadn't appeared in the listing photos. As an Electrical Engineer, I know how unsafe it is to live next to these towers. When we asked why it hadn't been disclosed, we got the same response about things outside the apartment not being her responsibility. We decided not to stay and said the experience had wasted our time. She replied, “Threatening me with negative reviews is inappropriate; please proceed with cancellation.” From the misleading listing and unprofessional host to the inaccessible amenities and what I consider unsafe surroundings, this was a terrible experience from arrival onward. I'd strongly advise future travelers to avoid this property.
