Blue Diamond Villa Watamu

The main problem was the villa itself. There was a serious mold infestation throughout, and the smell was obvious as soon as I arrived. I have a mold allergy, so staying there was a health risk and I couldn't safely remain. The kitchen had no cookware or gas for cooking, and the refrigerator was in a shared area that other people in the compound could access, which raised concerns about privacy, security, and convenience. The listing said the villa was 900 metres from the beach, which was an important reason I booked. Google Maps puts the walk to Watamu Bay Beach at about 1.3-1.6 kilometres, or 16-20 minutes. You have to take an unpaved dirt access road to Jacaranda Road, then head south or southwest toward town to find public beach access. That's quite different from the impression given by the 900 metre listing. I told the host I couldn't stay and asked for a refund. Instead of addressing my concerns, the booking was marked as a “no-show.” I did arrive, inspect the place, and find it unsuitable and unsafe for me. The poor condition and the lack of transparency were both disappointing, especially the distance description, mold, kitchen setup, and handling of my complaint. I'd urge future guests to check the details independently, since their experience may be quite different from what's advertised.

Charles, the manager, arranged our transport and made sure we felt safe and comfortable each day. Lilian looked after the apartment and villa so well that the bedroom and bathroom were spotless every day, and George served delicious breakfasts with a smile. We also tried the private chef, and the prawns and lobsters were delicious. Pier, the owner, answered our questions quickly before we arrived, which we appreciated. We fell in love with Blue Diamond Villa Watamu during our wonderful week there. The garden was beautiful, the pool clean and clear, and the villa had thoughtful details. The surroundings were peaceful. Rooms were cleaned daily, and breakfast was fresh, varied, and generous. There were comfortable loungers by the pool, and the beach and several nice restaurants were nearby, just a few minutes by tuk-tuk. Thanks to the whole team for a memorable holiday. We'd love to return.

The staff were what made our Watamu Airbnb stay stand out. They helped arrange transport, shared local tips, and checked that we were comfortable, always with kindness and efficiency. My friends and I felt cared for the whole time. The place itself was beautiful and peaceful, just right for a relaxing break. Highly recommend it for a Watamu visit.

I honestly didn't want to leave Blue Diamond. It was my best stay in Watamu, and both the owner and staff made us feel so welcome. I loved it there!
