Bird of Paradise Bungalows

Sotheary and Stephan made us feel at home right away, and I had some really warm, memorable conversations with them. They were always ready to help, and may have been the kindest people I met on my trip. The bungalows are simple but have what you need, set among nature. At night, the sounds of wildlife were like a calming soundtrack, and the occasional small visitor made it all feel special. It’s a lovely break from the bustle of a big city. You can walk to the national park and restaurant street in 5-10 minutes, and Kep Beach is around 15 minutes away.

The only small hassle was that the room door lock was a bit hard to open. Otherwise, we had a comfortable stay. Our air-conditioned bungalow was clean and well cared for, with fresh towels, and the quiet surroundings made it easy to sleep well. The owner was friendly and helpful, and the location worked well for us. Kep National Park and Kep Crab Market are both about a 10-minute walk away.

I stayed one night at the start of January 2026. The owners look after stray cats that have wandered in, including a couple who were already blind when they arrived. I liked that, and they keep the cats apart from guests, so it should be fine if you don’t like cats or have allergies. My standard wooden bungalow had a fan and a clean private bathroom. The mattress was comfortable, though its middle was starting to dip since everyone seems to gravitate there. There are also more modern stone bungalows with air conditioning. The crab market and national park entrance are walkable, depending on how much you like walking. Kep Beach is reachable on foot, by bicycle, or by remorque. I can’t think of any real downsides. Better bicycles, perhaps, but the owner lent me one for free.

The trees and flowers all around the property made our stay lovely, and the workers were very friendly. Agoda said there would be air conditioning, but there wasn’t. It wasn’t all that hot anyway, so I used the fans they provided.
