iRoHa Garden Hotel & Resort

The pool and garden were a peaceful break from the noisy, chaotic city, especially during the day when many business guests were out. Staff were plentiful, friendly, and attentive, and the Japanese owner was happy to chat and make suggestions. Breakfast could be had all day, with lots of choices brought to the table. We often walked about 20 minutes to a sight, such as the genocide museum or Russian Market, picking up juice or coffee along the way, then returned for breakfast before the heat set in. After a lazy spell by the pool, we'd head out around sunset for cocktails, for example at La Vida Skybar. The hotel itself is in a quiet, high quality spot near most embassies, and the main sights are an easy walk or a tuktuk ride under $1 away. The TTP area, especially around St 123, has plenty of bars and restaurants about 20 minutes on foot or $1 by tuktuk. We didn't need reservations, even around the busiest time at 7pm, and most places were nearly empty by 9pm. On Saturday or Sunday evenings in Phnom Penh, the roads by the Royal Palace along the riverfront close to traffic. There are hundreds of stalls and thousands of locals relaxing there, which makes for a great atmosphere. Grab was quick and efficient everywhere we used it in Cambodia. We never waited more than four minutes, even outside town. It cost $2 from the bus station and $14 for a car to the airport. Amazing, peaceful, friendly. Don't go anywhere else.
