VANNA Hill Resort

Avoid this resort. It felt like a run-down hotel, poorly managed by two “foreigners” who could speak only Chinese, not Khmer or English. My room and bathroom were dirty, as if they hadn't been occupied for months. The supposedly free Wi-Fi wouldn't connect, the TV couldn't be plugged in, and the kettle didn't work. After seeing the room, I didn't want to risk using the pool. Even when breakfast was included, they might not prepare anything and could ask for an extra $5. In my opinion, this place is a total fraud and rip-off. I should have read the other recent reviews before booking. The location has potential, and I'm sure it may once have been a great spot, but with management this poor, I'd recommend staying elsewhere in Kep. I've lived in Cambodia for more than 10 years and stayed in many places around the country. This is one of the worst.

The hillside resort is very green, with a lovely garden, and from the room you can see the ocean and its islands. There's a pool and Wi-Fi, but no welcome drink. The property needs better cleaning and maintenance. It's across the lane from the crab market, in an area with many similar properties.

I really liked the location and the natural, peaceful surroundings, especially the beautiful garden. The price was acceptable, but the room and pool were both a bit dirty. A lot of maintenance is needed after all these years, particularly following the two years of COVID-19.

The new owner seems to have brought Vanna Hill back around after it hit a low under several different operators over the years. The staff are generally friendly, helpful, and capable. My highlights are the beautiful sea views from the elevated property, even though it's not right on the shore, and the huge, well-kept pool with a good-sized children's area. Choose your room carefully, as they vary in size, style, and age. Some are concrete, some wood, some have AC and some don't, and a few of the older ones could use an update. Enjoy!
