99 Guesthouse

The $8 fan room was comfortable, and apart from a few long black hairs, it was clean. 99 Guesthouse is right in town, and the owner was friendly, spoke French and English, and let me store my bicycle inside. There was some evening noise from the start of the Songkran festivities, though I imagine it would usually be quiet enough.

The room had everything I needed, with a clean space, comfy bed, cold air, and hot water. The staff were kind and accommodating from the start. I’m cycling around Cambodia, and they offered to bring my bicycle inside for safekeeping before I even asked. The person who checked me in spoke English, and after mostly being in rural areas for over a month, it was nice to have a casual conversation. My Khmer is getting better, but I’m nowhere near conversational yet.

The rooms were clean and reasonably priced, and the hotel is in a great spot in Koh Kong. The owner was really kind and helpful. We’d left some things at our previous destination, and he called for us to help get them back. He spoke great English, too. One note: the laundry lady down the street took two of my clothing items. The hotel had recommended that laundry place, but it wasn’t their fault.

They really make an effort to keep your stay comfortable and convenient. Service in English, French, and Khmer was superb, and there’s a fully equipped gym next door. Had a great stay and would definitely recommend it in Koh Kong.
