Mad Monkey Koh Rong

Rosie was the best rep we've met, so bubbly, and we became really good friends with her. Rosie, Will, Lou, and everyone else made us feel welcome, and we had such a blast together. This was the best Mad Monkey I've stayed at, and one of my favorite places while travelling in SEA.

The beach here is stunning, and you can get to the busy areas easily, or head somewhere quieter by bike or tuk tuk. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable, and the food was good and reasonably priced. Rosie and Lou did a brilliant job creating a fun atmosphere and running events, while the rest of the staff were kind and happy to help.

There's refillable drinking water with cups tucked beside the bar, and the bar staff were quick and efficient. The beach chairs are comfy, and there's an outdoor mini gym attached, which I loved. It's a lively place that seems popular with tourists, and the staff can help work out payments if you're using both USD and Cambodian dollars. Our twin room was unexpectedly spacious, with two double beds and the comfiest firm foam mattresses we've had on this trip. The bathroom was large but dimly lit; the AC and hot water worked well. Rooms are basic and clean. I've heard the dorms and their bathrooms can be iffy. Some people in our group were in them and booked a private room next door when one became available. There's a wide food selection, usually around $4-8, plus lots of happy hour offers. Some nights, cocktails are 2 for $4 and beers are $1. Great vibe. I'd recommend staying, preferably in your own room.

We had such a good time that we extended our stay, and would've stayed longer if we could. Long Set Beach is right there, and the location is perfect. For a tiny island, the food menu is huge. Louise and James were the best staff and reps we've had, and really made our Koh Rong trip. The 12-bed female dorm was lovely and the AC worked great.
