The roosters and cockerels next door were the biggest issue. There were 5 or 6 of them, and they cried out all night. We had to switch rooms on the first night because they were right outside our window. They woke us every morning at 4am without fail. One night they called at 12.30am, 2am, 3.30am, and 4.30AM, even with ear plugs in. It’s not the hotel’s fault, but it disturbed our sleep every night. The rest of the place was lovely. It’s a little family run hotel away from the city’s busy streets. Staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke good English. The manager even went out of her way to get a cake and rose for my girlfriend’s birthday breakfast. Rooms are big, modern, and comfy, bathrooms are very nice, breakfast is good, WiFi signal is very good, and the TV has English movie channels. The shower water never got properly hot, only slightly warm at best.

The staff were really accommodating, and the little shop had fair prices. I got a huge bottle of water for 16 cents. The hotel was clean, with a nice shower, an okay bed, and a cute side courtyard. The tuk-tuk ride from the airport took about an hour. As we turned onto the street, I hoped the driver was only passing through; the neighborhood is quite poor, and as a foreigner you stand out. I should have looked into the area more beforehand.

The manager and her staff were amazing, and she got us anything we needed. She also speaks English. The hotel tuk-tuk took us around town for free, though a donation to the driver is welcome. There’s a small shop with the essentials, plus free breakfast with a standard menu and American food on request. The internet was free but a little slow. The family-run hotel is somewhat run down, though the price is great. I’d probably stay again if I return to PP.

There isn’t much in the way of restaurants nearby. You can take a tuk-tuk or Uber to the restaurant area for $2-$4 each way, or try the local food close by. The room was very spacious, with a balcony, a great bed, and properly hot water. Staff were exceptionally polite and helpful, and the hotel was very clean. The air conditioning could have been better, and there’s a quick market attached with fair prices.
