Tian Yi International Hotel 天艺国际酒店

My three-night stay was pretty unpleasant. At check-in I was put in a smoking room instead of a non-smoking one, and although the room looked nice, the bathroom smelled of urine, possibly from a leak. The reception was disorganized and unhelpful, and they gave me the wrong key card, so I couldn't get into my room on the 10th floor. Breakfast was disappointing, with only Chinese food. Reception staff spoke Chinese but had limited English. Despite the hotel's name, it felt more like a Chinese hotel in Cambodia than an international one.

Rachana at the front desk deserves a special thank you. She was lovely, always ready to help, spoke good English, and took care of everything I needed since the other hotel staff couldn't speak English. The rooms were clean and nice, though the cleaning lady missed some coffee stains. The restaurant's Chinese food was okay, medium quality, but breakfast was horrible. There was only Chinese food, no black coffee, just a premixed coffee with milk in a big tank. They advertise an occidental breakfast, but that's not true.

Getting to the hotel was difficult because the promised shuttle wasn't available during my stay. The air conditioner was extremely loud and didn't cool the room well, street noise went on incessantly, and the gym closed early. The building's exterior had lots of cracks, and the so-called pool looked like a rectangular tub. The room had a condominium-style setting. Cleaning was practically nonexistent, room service was sporadic, and toilet paper was hard to come by. Breakfast was very limited and catered only to Chinese preferences, with little effort to reflect Cambodian culture. Most staff couldn't speak English well, and they insisted on handling my luggage. The key was unusually difficult to use, and the TV had few language options. It was far from a satisfactory stay, and I wouldn't return.

My room was spacious and comfortable, with a balcony where I could look outside or let fresh air in. Room service was quick. The main difficulty was that only one or two reception staff spoke English, so every room service request had to go through them. The lobbies and hallways were always crowded, making the room the best place to stay.
