Densy Angkor Bungalow

A lovely, peaceful place with a balcony, just outside of Siem Reap. Highly recommend.

The location works well: essentials are available at a shop on the corner, and Siem Reap is a few minutes away by tuk tuk from the end of the main road, or walkable. For a more local feel, there are lots of restaurants and shops at the other end of the street, about five minutes on foot. Angkor Bungalows has a really peaceful atmosphere. The owner is incredibly helpful, friendly and accommodating, and the staff are pleasant, always smiling and quick to help with any issues. I'm happy to recommend it.

I paid for a month but left after 12 days because I didn't feel comfortable there. When I arrived, nobody was around. I came back two hours later and still found no one, until a resident called the host to say a guest was waiting at check-in time. The receptionist also works as the gardener, smoked cigarettes constantly, and seemed unhygienic and unfriendly to me. He didn't speak English. I finally decided to leave after seeing him vacuum my bed and mattress right after doing the floor. I could hardly believe what I was seeing. He was often nearby and seemed very observant, which made me uncomfortable and led me to keep the curtains closed for privacy. The cabins face each other at close range, so there's little privacy unless the curtains are shut. There are four open carved air slits in the bathroom that can't be closed, so the only way to keep mosquitoes out is to shut the bathroom door. At night, animals in the many surrounding trees may get onto the roof and wake you.

The staff are really friendly, and the bungalow is beautiful and cozy, right in the middle of Siem Reap. Highly recommend, and I'd definitely come back someday.
