Gijang No.25 Hotel

The owner is friendly, and pets are welcome. There's a snack bar on the first floor with Hangang Ramen. Parking is available in the lot across the street. There's a small harbor on the east side, and it's a 50-minute walk from Yeonhwa-ri to Ananti.

I stay here for work pretty often. With coupons, I've paid as little as 40,000 won, and it's good value. The building is new, so the interior is clean, and parking is easy. It's not right by the ocean, but the beach and a convenience store are both 100 meters away. The front desk says they offer coffee and breakfast, though I haven't tried either.

The room was comfortable for me, though it's so tiny that other people may want to think twice. It's about twice the size of a queen bed, with barely room to walk around. For the cheapest option, Standard A, I think they should have made that clear as a drawback because this amount of space isn't typical. The room had enough amenities, and I liked that the shampoo came in smaller containers. It felt like a hotel. The big TV was clear and had Netflix, but it responded slowly, which could be frustrating. The charger was broken too, which made me wonder how carefully things are checked. I did have to step outside three or four times because I felt the no-smoking warning. Daebyeon Port is close by for walks or food. The building looks clean from outside and the inside is tidy. Although it's across the street on an empty lot, the private parking area is spacious. There's valet service on the first floor, and asking for your keys seems to be a precaution in case their lot fills up. By the entrance counter there's a little lobby and a breakfast room that looks thoughtfully arranged. The food choices set it apart from other motels, with toasters, tables, and plates all ready to use. There's a rooftop, but no separate smoking room.

The neighborhood was quiet, even at night, and the penthouse room was nice. The simple breakfast was good too, with cup noodles, boiled eggs, cereal, milk, orange juice, and toast, plenty for a quick bite. It's supposed to run until 9:00 AM, but they began clearing things away at 8:40, so I'd go early. There were six bottles of water, three in the room and three in the jacuzzi area fridge, plus two cans of Cass beer and a small bag of potato chips. I couldn't use the jacuzzi area because there was a faint cigarette smell, apparently from someone smoking there. It's a non-smoking area, so I figured that guest had broken the rule and accepted it as unavoidable.
