At checkout, the staff were friendly and polite. They kept our luggage somewhere secure and called a taxi to the train station. Their estimate of about 7 minutes and 7,000 Won was spot on. The pool stayed closed throughout our visit, and the breakfast setup was odd, with only about 7-8 round tables seating six each. The food was mostly Korean, though the coffee was good. They gave us just one breakfast coupon for two people, which was strange. Our arrival was a different story. We got there at 1.45pm, an hour before the official 3pm check-in, and asked to come in early. The front desk woman immediately said no and told us to return at 3pm without checking whether a room was ready. That felt unwelcoming. The room was small and looked dated and tired, and the double bed wasn't very comfortable. The bathroom was good. Overall, Hotel Laonzena felt average, about three stars to me.

The reception staff were kind and helpful, and the hotel is nice and very close to the metro in Daegu.

The room looked old and dirty, with a badly damaged carpet. The amenities felt more like motel quality: just two cheap teabags and instant coffee mix. There were no face products, toothbrushes, or toothpaste, so bring your own toiletries. At check-in, the man at the front desk was rude and spoke poorly. He didn't explain that breakfast was included in the reservation, and only mentioned that we could smoke in the room, even though a “No smoking” sign left us confused. When we checked out, we asked for an airport taxi, but he told us to use Kakao Taxi on our own phone. I'll never come back and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone visiting Daegu.

Breakfast had lots of variety and was really good. There's also a convenience store in the lobby, and I know a sauna is available in the mornings, though I didn't use it. The rooms were nice and large, if a little dim.

The guest room layouts are strange, and two of the three rooms our group had lacked privacy. In one, the bathtub was in the sleeping area. That room and another had only a glass door on the toilet area. I don't want to hear someone taking care of business. I wouldn't return.
