New Cheonji Hotel Seoul

The bathroom and toilet were really clean, with no moldy smell after a shower, and the shower drained well. The location also worked great for getting around on Lines 2, 4, and 5. It's between Euljiro4Ga and DDP station, and handy for late-night shopping at nyunyu/mimiline/APM malls. I've stayed in several hotels in this dongdaemun hotel area on trips to Korea every few months, and New Cheonji hotel gives me the best value. I spent two nights there this time and plan to book it on future Korea trips. I'm not sure why the rating is so low. I had a standard room with no window, but it was non-smoking and didn't smell of smoke at all. It was very clean, too: white sheets without stains that smelled sanitized. The decor is vintage and retro, a change from the usual minimalist look, which makes sense since the hotel has been around since the 1960s. The room was big for Seoul, and I could open my 28 inch suitcase without a problem. It had a hair dryer, a separate clothes and coat rack, two armchairs, a separate bedside table, a queen bed, a dresser with a mirror and chair, a cupboard with four hangers, a full-length mirror, and a separate table under a wall-mounted TV equipped with Netflix.

The foyer has a small food prep spot with microwaves, coffee, and vending machines at good prices. There's a Line 2 station within a five-minute walk, plus restaurants and cafes nearby, and DDP and dundun store for shopping. Laundry and dryer use costs 2000won each. Our room was clean and soundproof, and the staff were really friendly. Had a great stay and would come back.

We had a great stay. The rooms are clean and much more soundproof than the nearby hotel where we spent a night. Staff were friendly, and the location is great. There's no breakfast, but downstairs there's a microwave and vending machine, and plenty of places to eat around the hotel.

For the price, the hotel's style, cleanliness, and modern feel were better than I expected. It's in dongdaemun, which is handy for shopping, art exhibitions, and getting into central seoul. Our room had no window, but honestly I didn't mind. The bathroom was good, with amenities including toothbrushes and toothpaste in a packet. Service was average, but everything went smoothly, so that was fine. Highly recommend!
