Geoje Oasis Hotel

I stayed here last year while working at SHI. The hotel is nice and has all the amenities. You can get around by taxi or walk if you want, though the uphill walk back is no joke. There's a decent bar for cold drinks and a kitchen that serves food. What more do you want?

Really nice hotel, with great service.

The room was spacious and clean, and the staff were nice. We had a great barbecue one night, with a supermarket nearby to get things from. There aren't any restaurants within walking distance, though, and getting around on foot isn't easy.

The owners are a family and they really look after you. I was there as a contractor visiting the shipyards, and it worked very well: rates were good, buses ran regularly to and from the yard, and if you missed the last bus they'd come pick you up inside the yard. When I needed to visit the local hospital, the owner's mum drove me, handled the talking, then took me to the pharmacy and sorted that out too. They also helped us get tools and consumables, and accepted parts we had delivered there. The laundry service is fantastic. Some regulars even courier their luggage to the hotel in advance so they don't have to carry it. WiFi was great, and the food was good. They also help you order takeaway to your room. Rooms have a small kitchen, which was a real help when staying a few weeks and missing food from home. The rooms are quiet and have air conditioning. The bar is friendly and usually full of working people from all over the world. It's not a long walk into town, where there's the 'D cube' department store with McDonalds, Starbucks and a supermarket that even sells Tesco brand goods. Okpo is close enough for a quick taxi if you want a night out, and there are plenty of bars and restaurants in town. It's also easy to reach the motorway if you want to rent a car and drive to Busan.
