Maruo Hotel

Could use more up-to-date utensils and gadgets.

Bitgaram Lake Park is close by, which makes this a handy spot for a morning walk. The room itself felt roomy enough, not cramped. It's a small motel-style hotel, with shops on the ground floor and guest rooms upstairs, a setup that seems common around Naju Innovation City.

The room was warm, clean, and spacious, and the massage chair worked well despite being small. It had the basics covered, and I had no other real complaints apart from the bathroom water draining poorly. The weekday standard room was 60,000 won, about 5,000 won more than places on the right side of Bitgaram Lake Park, though I couldn't see much difference. It's on the left side of the park in Naju Innovation City. A 24-hour Jeonju Kongnamul Gukbap shop is across from the hotel. I bought ramen, but the hallway purifier had no hot water, so I used the coffee pot, which wasn't ideal. The room is large, though there's no bathtub, and it seems to lack a ventilation fan. Opening the window does ventilate it well. The towels were thin, like ones at a Thursday bathhouse, which gave the place more of an inn feel than a business hotel. There are lots of empty shops in Naju Innovation City, and Bitgaram Lake Park wasn't very busy with regular visitors in the evening. The location worked well for getting to Hansuje near Naju Market the next day. Maybe because it's a new city, the area doesn't feel like Naju at all.
