We booked two nights, but after checking in I learned this was a local motel where young couples rent rooms by the hour. We weren’t allowed to stay in our room during the day between our two nights. We had to pack all our luggage and take it out because the room was being offered to couples for daytime use. That made no sense to me, and we were forced to move our bags out.
I came to the office in Bangbae-dong for training and couldn’t find a suitable place to stay. The room was small, basic, and for smokers, at 70,000 won. The walk to the office was a reasonable 20 minutes, though the many nearby bars made it noisy.
The parking attendant at Shil Motel always seemed annoyed with customers. I was staying there and needed to leave, so I parked slightly out of the lane. They asked when I’d be going, even though there wasn’t a single car around. If you leave your car in the lot for even a little while, they quickly come out to move it. There’s no valet parking. The motels in Bangbae's Cafe Alley should just be torn down. They’re all failing, and this one may be among the better ones, but it still acts like it’s some kind of Cafe Alley motel.
The staff were really friendly, and the prices are fairly affordable for Gangnam. The location is nice and easy to find.
There was a lot of trash.
