Cocoa Guesthouse

I ended up leaving after just one sleepless night, even though I’d booked seven. Music from the many clubs outside came straight through the paper-thin walls until 5 a.m., and earplugs wouldn’t have fixed that. The area may be cheap, but I really can’t recommend it. The room itself was fine and the hostel has a traditional look. The bed was okay, but not much use when you can’t sleep. Breakfast was lacking, there were no hand towels in the toilets, and the shower towels were tiny. It’s on the third floor with no elevator, which wasn’t mentioned. Check-in, laundry, and other service are only available from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Room doors use codes, with no key, which I didn’t like.

The hosts were warm and attentive, always ready to answer questions or lend a hand. We felt right at home in this clean, cozy, comfortable guest house. Thanks so much for the lovely welcome. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a hospitable place to stay. 10/10.

The kitchen was cozy and nicely decorated, and the staff were friendly. They also had good quality face wash and shampoo in both the private shower and the shared area. The location was great. We booked a room with a private shower, but the bathroom was shared. If we’d known the toilet wasn’t private, we wouldn’t have booked it. Sleep wasn’t great for me. The mattress and pillow weren’t comfortable, and the soundproofing was poor. We could hear the door lock beep whenever neighbors came and went, sometimes for about 30 minutes while they used the toilets and showers. Noise from the kitchen also came straight into our corner room. The shower area smelled a little moldy when I went in and out.

The room was clean and spacious, but no one mentioned that there are bars downstairs. The music and partying go on all night, and earplugs didn’t help. It might suit people who want to party and go to sleep in the early morning, but I wish the noise had been disclosed.
