Cocoon stay Hongdae Guesthouse

It was easy to check in, and the location is great, close to Hongik station but tucked away enough to be quiet at night. The main Hongdae street is also a short walk away. The beds weren’t very comfortable, though each had its own outlet. Lockers were provided in the dorm, but with no key or passcode they didn’t feel very useful. There’s no main lobby or shared hangout space, so it’s hard to meet people unless you’re traveling with someone or chat with your dorm mates. I had a good stay, but that alone would probably keep me from coming back.

The location is very good, but I had a bad experience with the ajusshi owner and won’t return. I’d booked online with a credit card payment option, but he tried to make me pay cash. After I insisted on paying the way I’d chosen, his service toward me was poor. He carried another guest’s bag to their room but didn’t help with mine. He didn’t give me a towel until I asked, and the one I got smelled awful. The shared computer wasn’t working, and he didn’t care when I told him. Worst of all, he let a young female acquaintance make loud noise and eat in the room. She used a loudspeaker, switched the lights on and off without considering anyone else, and spread her things around. He also reserved the whole kitchen for her, so my friend and I couldn’t use any space there to pack when checking out.

Nice room, but there’s no elevator. 🥲

The floor was clean, but the sheets and pillow looked disgusting. No one was at the information desk during my stay, so I handled check-in and check-out by myself. I didn’t even realize there was a kitchen. It’s cheaper than other places, and there seem to be reasons for that.
