Hotel Myeongdong

The location is convenient for tourists, but my stay was a big disappointment. Our room had three single beds and plenty of space, but there was a strong sewage-like smell as soon as we entered. The tiny bathroom smelled even worse, and there was barely room to move my arms in the shower. I told staff right after check-in; they pointed an air freshener at the drain, but didn't offer a room change or any real fix. I had to put up with it for two nights, using air freshener sprays, and housekeeping didn't make it better. Breakfast was another letdown. It was only served during a strict time window, and if you're even 10 minutes late, they won't serve you. The basic meal was toast, an egg, two apple slices, bottled juice, and undercooked bacon. Not something I looked forward to. Despite the good location, the experience fell far short of what I expected, and I wouldn't stay here again.

The rooms were tiny and suffocating, the bathrooms were in awful, almost rotten condition, and the whole property felt dated and poorly maintained. Nothing met even basic expectations. Staff were extremely rude and uncooperative over simple requests. Breakfast was included, but they refused to serve it because it supposedly hadn't been pre-booked. Why would a basic breakfast that's part of the package need to be booked separately? The positive reviews seem questionable to me because they don't match the reality. This was the worst hotel experience I've had. Save yourself the frustration and avoid it, it isn't worth it.

We traveled from Australia to spend a week exploring Seoul with our small child, but this hotel was so disappointing it affected our experience of the city. Getting in was frustrating with a stroller, since there were lots of stairs before the elevator. If you're considering it, look at photos from other guests before deciding. Our stay was truly unfortunate, and I hope this helps others avoid the same experience.

We booked a family room for 9Dec to 16Dec and got a room on level 8 with a window facing the main street. It was clean and decent, just enough for our family of four and three pieces of luggage. The bathroom had enough space for one person to use and had no mould stains in either the toilet or bathroom. The downside was having to climb 16 steps, since the lift lobby is on the 2nd floor.
