I found this affordable place near Sookmyung uni station. The room was okay and had a private bathroom, but there's no elevator. The glass wall in the room made me pretty anxious. I attached a picture, though I can't quite explain why that part bothered me.

The location made getting around easy, with the subway, airport bus, bus stops, and Seoul Station KTX accessible. CU and Olive Young are nearby too. I stayed eight nights with two others in a quadruple room, which gave us some extra space. The guesthouse is a converted motel, though, and has no elevator. The room wasn't cleaned thoroughly and was dusty. The beds were firm but okay, and the AC was inconsistent, so the temperature was uncomfortable at times. The see-through bathroom door took away privacy, and the moldy conditions were concerning. We also encountered a cockroach and mosquitoes, though bug spray was provided. Towels, toothpaste, shampoo, and body wash were available, but the supplies were on the small side. Laundry cost extra. There was a water dispenser and microwave, but no dedicated common area. It works for budget travelers, but next time I'd rather consider a hostel for more comfort and better service.

The airco was leaking a bit onto the bed, and the place smelled strange. The people working there weren't friendly either. Pretty bad, wouldn't recommend.

The location and helpful, very friendly staff ended up winning us over, and our wallets were happy too. We thought we'd made a serious mistake at first, but the savings, location, and staff made it grow on us. This is clearly a repurposed love-hotel in a neighborhood to match, close to lots of nice restaurants and sightseeing. It cost what you'd expect: cheap and kinda terrible. Our room had just one tiny towel for two people, though there were more in the hallway. I had to be a bit acrobatic to sit on the toilet, and the bed is haaaard, maybe it needed to be sturdy back in the day. Water pressure was good and hot water was no problem. No noise complaints either, it seems sound proof. When the lights are off, it's pitch dark any time of day or night. There are a few different room layouts, and our friend's room had a bath tub. We saved a bit by paying in cash.

The staff were warm and helpful, and the DMZ trip they booked for me was well worth the 80k WON. A taxi arrived five minutes early, picked me up, and took me to the RV point for the bus. The place is quiet, with clean linen, and handy for train stops, Namsam Tower, the Korean War Memorial, and On Off Coffee just around the corner. The location and price make this a cost-effective choice in a huge city. Still, the comments you may have seen about the hard beds and condition problems are fair. It suits a seasoned traveller who can overlook cosmetic wear and is happy with a clean bed in a convenient spot. Fixing those issues would make the stay more comfortable and likely lift the ratings.
