Dongdaemun Tourist Hotel

We spent five nights in a family room. The staff were nice, and some spoke both English and Mandarin. They welcomed us with canned apple-ginger drinks that were really tasty, with just a little ginger flavor. The newer breakfast options included ramen you cook yourself, cereal, and bread. Those foil bowls came in handy for a lazy midnight ramen supper. The hotel was also right by a Line 1 exit with a lift, a lifesaver with luggage, and Line 4 was right in front. There was a 7-Eleven downstairs and plenty of food around, including a packed 24/7 kyochon even at midnight on weekdays. You could pick up ice from the cafeteria, which also had plastic cups, lids, and straws. Doota mall was a pleasant surprise, and the hotel brochures had discounts for duty-free shops and even the airport. Our corner room was on level 6. The toilet area was extremely cramped, and I don't know why they squeezed in a bathtub alongside the toilet and basin. The shower kept flipping between hot and cold, which would drive you crazy in the middle of winter. Coming back after a long day, the room smelled like ginseng. We figured out it was coming from the drain, and could shut the toilet door and air out the room through the windows.
