Eight Rest Hostel Myeong-dong

Sohn was kind and polite the whole time, even when we cut our six-night stay short. We arrived soaked from the rain and he let us check in early, which I really appreciated. The ramen bar was nice too. The experience was positive enough that I'm still giving five stars. The location is fantastic, just a minute from the heart of Myeongdong, though Apple Maps made it hard to find. We didn't know about Naver then, so use Naver! The room was extremely cramped for two girls with big check-in suitcases. Neither of us could open our luggage fully, so it seems better for a short visit or light packers. We left early because it was too tight for our planned six nights. The washer and dryer caused a lot of stress. They couldn't manage thick clothes or big loads, the timer was inaccurate, and if you came back after the cycle ended, the machines locked and cost 4000 won to unlock. The dryer didn't dry jeans, and the washer didn't seem to have a spin cycle, so clothes came out soaking wet. There was no room to hang them in our room, either. We spent 16-20k won on the lock issue. I'd use a laundromat or skip the machines.

The room and bathroom are tiny, but the bed linen and towels were very clean. The location is absolutely brilliant and the service was really good. They have a shared noodle station with free noodles, plus a microwave and laundry. Laundry costs extra, but it was good to have.

We stayed two weeks, and the staff were so sweet. They always greeted us with big smiles, and the price was very fair. It felt like a lovely place for gap year travelers. The room was small, but my bestie and I have known each other since childhood, so we shared one bed and used the smaller bed for our luggage. The shower was nice, and there was a good mirror for makeup. We also had a refrigerator, handy for leftovers or drinks from the convenience store on the other side of the building. They had everything we needed, including extra blankets to borrow if we got cold and scissors to lend. Free ramen in the kitchen was great after a club night. The location is right in the middle of the city, which is perfect. Lots of tourists stay nearby, but we didn't mind, that's just personal preference. For a taxi, it may be easier to get dropped at the big hotel on the other side, since there are too many people on the streets along the way.

We came back for a second stay and really like being right in the center of myeongdong. The room is spacious, and the staff are very accommodating. We'll definitely return.
